Can any lock keep love confined within,
When the loving heart's tiny tears escape and confess it?
The unloving belong only to themselves,
But the loving belong to others to their very bones.

A man long absent
comes home safe from afar.
His kin, his friends, his companions,
delight in his return.
In just the same way,
when you've done good
and gone from this world to the world beyond,
your good deeds receive you
as kin and someone dear
come home at last.
-Dhammapada

"Let the past be," answered the Buddha, "and forget the future. I will teach you that which is now."
When this condition is, that condition comes to be,
With the arising of this, that arises,
When this is not here, that does not come into existence,
With the ceasing of this, that too ceases.
-Majjhima Nikaya
At the time for initiative

Young, strong, but lethargic,
the resolves of his heart
exhausted,
the lazy, lethargic one
loses the path
to discernment.
